# Polygon

The Polygon API provides secure, low-latency access to the Polygon network through an EVM-compatible **JSON-RPC** interface — fully compatible with common EVM tooling and SDKs (web3.js, ethers.js, viem, web3.py). FastNode operates **full and archive** nodes for this network, so you can read on-chain data and submit transactions without running your own infrastructure.

## Common methods

| Method                      | Description                                               |
| --------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------- |
| `eth_blockNumber`           | Returns the latest block number.                          |
| `eth_chainId`               | Returns the chain ID.                                     |
| `eth_getBalance`            | Returns the balance of an address at a given block.       |
| `eth_call`                  | Executes a read-only call without creating a transaction. |
| `eth_estimateGas`           | Estimates gas for a transaction.                          |
| `eth_gasPrice`              | Returns the current gas price.                            |
| `eth_getLogs`               | Returns event logs matching a filter.                     |
| `eth_getTransactionByHash`  | Returns transaction details by hash.                      |
| `eth_getTransactionReceipt` | Returns the receipt of a mined transaction.               |
| `eth_sendRawTransaction`    | Broadcasts a signed transaction.                          |
| `eth_getBlockByNumber`      | Returns block data by number.                             |
| `net_version`               | Returns the network ID.                                   |
